Hmong Youth and Parents United (HYPU) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established in 2008 to provide culturally sensitive resources and services to the Hmong and other communities in Sacramento. Our mission is to empower underserved communities by offering culturally sensitive educational, social, and economic services and resources to youth, adults, and parents. Together, we unite individuals to construct a resilient and inclusive community where all can flourish.

WORK DESCRIPTION

Program Coordinator will prioritize coordinating and implementing strategies to implement and enhance programing and organizational goals. Coordinator will work with interns and other staff in cross-functional teams to complete assigned tasks and projects. Under the supervision of the Program Manager/Director, the Program Coordinator will lead and assist in a variety of grant programs that relate to the mission and vision of our organization. The ideal individual must have the ability to support multiple projects/programs to achieve the goals and objectives and meet any related key deliverables. Successful candidates will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing outreach efforts aimed at measurably improving and educating the community.

GENERAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Work on Program Planning and Execution as directed by the Program Manager.

● Work in cross-functional teams to successfully promote organizational services and programs as well as public state campaigns.

● Ensures HYPU services and programs are delivered in a culturally appropriate manner.

● Attend, collaborate and work with community partners and stakeholders to bring awareness, provide resources, and drive participant engagement in our initiatives.

● Act as a mentor and leader for youth interns.

● Create scripts and train staff and youth interns in outreach and communications campaigns through phone banking, canvassing tabling and other methods of outreach as directed by Program Manager.

● Maintain, track, and organize data and numbers in regard to assigned projects.

● Monitor program progress and handle any issues that arise.

● Create and maintain excellent organizational and computer skills including experience with project management, word processing and spreadsheets for comprehensive documentation, plans, and reports.

● Input data and numbers into reports regarding evaluation and performance reporting as directed by Program Manager

● Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of program activities through data collection and make improvements based on outcomes.

● Other related duties may also be perfomed; not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual holding this classification

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

● Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

● Be fluent in Hmong both oral and written.

● Must have a valid California Driver’s License with current auto insurance and reliable transportation.

● Knowledge of traditional and cultural practices of the diverse Hmong community, as well as the ability to work with other racially, culturally, ethically, and financially diverse populations.

● Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.

● Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and efficiently with little supervision and direction.

● Maintain transparency and accountability in all communications and work plans with the team.

● Excellent oral and written communication skills.

● Ability to exercise judgment in the application of professional services.

● Active listening skills and genuine compassion for others.

● Demonstrated technology skills including knowledge in both Microsoft Office Platform and/or Google Drive Platform

● The ability to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks.

● Must be able to adjust schedule and work nights and weekends as needed.
