Ia Lo
Greetings, friends and families!
My name is Ia Lo. I was born and raised here in North Sacramento. In 2012, I attended UC Davis where I was at for the next 5 years. I first worked for Hmong Enrichment Summer Camp in 2014 as an Enrichment Instructor. From then on, I became the 3rd-4th grade Language Instructor (2016), an Assistant Program Coordinator (2017), Kindergarten Language Instructor (2018), and I am now your Program Coordinator. My hope for this summer is to provide instructors the skills and resources to teach students so that they value the Hmong language and culture as an asset in their lives and not as a burden. For parents and families, I hope to continue the relationships we have built, connect with new families, and continue to support your children to grow.

Hello parents, my name is Soua Lor (Xib Fwb Lauj). I been working with Hmong Enrichment Summer Camp for the last two years as an inter and going on my third years this year as the instructor for the kindergarten. Beside working with H.E.S.C, I’m also a mother of three, students of America River College, an instructor for Hmong Language Summer Course at the Hope Center and an Pare-Educator for Twin Rivers Unified School District. I’m so excited for this year. My plan for this year is to bring in phrases, history, sight words and etc… Teaching my students is important to me because if we (as the adults) stop exposing our children to our culture, then there is high chance that our culture will slowly fade away and disappear. There are many children of this generation that does not speak or understand their native language anymore, so much so that English has now become their primary language instead of Hmong. My vision for this year is to have my students be able to communicate with their parents and elders in Hmong. This is only the begin. I hope with my work at school with your child and your work at home can make this possible.  Thank you!

My name is Khou Yang. I am the second grade instructor for HESC this year. I was born in Thailand, and immigrated to the United States when I was 7. As a child, I have always loved the Hmong culture and the rich tradition that we managed to preserve. And as a person who loves to get involved with the community, I would love to give back to my Hmong community by helping out with what I am capable of. And being a part of the HESC Instructor team, is a step closer to making my dream tangible.
